Instructors
Michael Wilson is the owner and primary instructors at Pine
Tree Karate & Fitness.
We regularly have guest instructors from other martial art
styles such as Judo, Karate, Kenpo, jujitsu and others. It is
our belief that each style has effective and unique aspects
that every martial artist should investigate.
All Pine Tree Karate instructors teach Moo Duk Kwan style
Taekwondo that has been passed down to them from Master Mike
Clark.
Martial Arts Experience
Our instructors have a combined ????? years of martial arts
experience. Mr. Wilson began studying Moo Duk Kwan Style
Taekwondo in 1982. He is a former 2 time Maine State sparring
champion. Mr. Wilson is a Second Degree Blackbelt with many
years experience instructing in martial arts. Mr. Merchant

Professional Background
Mr. Wilson is a former military police officer in the Army
and Air Force.

John Knappe
Mr. Knappe currently lives in Bangor, Maine with his
wife Ellen and three children Jordan, Ty and Miranda. He is a
full time Deputy with the Penobscot County Sheriffs Office,
where he is a member of the Special Response Team. Mr. Knappe
is also an Iraqi War Veteran. He was deployed with the 100th
BN 442nd Infantry out of Hawaii as a Squad Leader in a Scout
Sniper Platoon. He has been in the United States Army for over
13 years and currently runs a training group in Bangor, Maine
for all pre-service Soldiers.
Mr. Knappe was introduced to Taekwondo at the age of 12
through the Bangor YMCA. His only instructor was Master
Michael Clark. At the age of 16 Mr. Knappe earned the rank of
Black Belt in Taekwondo. He has competed locally and
nationally in point fighting circuits and Olympic Trials. He
has earned three State Championships in Olympic Style
Taekwondo and attended three National Championships in Tulsa,
Oklahoma, St. Louis, Missouri, and Anaheim, California. Mr.
Knappe is currently a Second Degree Blackbelt.
